Yay!  It’s a long weekend and I’m ready for it!  It’s going to be a great weekend and I’m sure I’ll have lots to share with you next week!

Here are a few things I’m thinking about/working on/rambling about today.

Remember that exciting news I mentioned a few days back?  Well………

I’m still not gonna tell you!

But I will!

Soon!!!

There’s a smile on my face just thinking about it!

Don’t you hate love surprises.  😉

I sat down today and took an honest look at where our money goes each month and one thing I can for tell you for certain is that it goes     and goes     and goes.  And I’ve got to get a handle on it!  Gas for our four vehicles took the most chunk out of it, along with miscellaneous junk stuff, groceries came in 3rd and eating out finished it off….and this is not including our regular monthly bills, utilities, etc.  I’ve figured, calculated, itemized and written everything down and tonight we’ll be having a family meeting to discuss it.

I think I’m gonna try the ‘envelope system’ of managing money where you pay your necessary bills by check/debit or however you do it, then pull out your remaining cash for everything else.  Separate this cash into your designated categories and only use cash to make your purchases.  This way when the cash is gone, then no more of that category spending until the next payday.

How do you manage your money?  Do you have a system?

I received another email today from BlogHer that my Coupons for Soldiers post will be a Featured Member Post in the Money topic on BlogHer.com on 9/9/11.  I’m sure I’ll be offering you more details about that once that’s featured next week!  You’ll noticed the bling I’ve added to my sidebar compliments of Blogher.  🙂

I desperately need new running shoes.  It’s crazy ’cause I just bought these in February of this year, but the support in them is blown.  I tried adding gel orthotics but that is not enough.  I’m thinking of trying Brooks for my next pair, but I’ll defintely go in and try on several pairs first before buying.

What’s your favorite pair of running shoes and why??

I’m also considering adding my Photography 101 series to this blog.  This is a 17 week series that I’ve posted on my professional site and I’m thinking of adding it here.  It received so much positive response I thought you may enjoy having it easily available to you, my new readers, now on my personal blog.  The Photography 101 Exposure Lesson was also a recent Featured Member Post on BlogHer, so I thought it would be beneficial to other readers by promoting here as well.

What are your thoughts?  Is this something you may be interested in reading?

Thanks to Alyson for correctly answering the question in the last giveaway.  I know, I know I kinda secretly nestled it within that blog post, but Alsyon caught it {I know she read the entire post to find it ;)} and now she’ll receive a cutsie Vera Bradley product because of it.  🙂  Yay!  Alyson.

Be on the look out because the next giveaway will be a Vera Product!

And if you haven’t had a chance to look yet, I’ve added a couple of features to the menu bar above.  There is a new Welcome! page that pretty much explains why I blog.  And I’ve also added a couple of “Favorites” pages-my Favorite Posts page and my Favorite Products page.  Just scroll over the Welcome! tab for the drop down menu.

Let me know what you think!

I finally finished reading The Help.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  What an awesome book!  I want to have a girls day and go see the movie.

Have you read the book and/or seen the movie? I know already what happens, but don’t tell me the ending!

Brain dump over!  Sometimes I just gotta get it all out there!

Here’s what’s left of my afternoon snack.

What’s your weekend plans?  Is TS # 13 raining out your plans?
