It’s the beginning of a new week and what are your plans?
I know many of you dislike Mondays, but I really don’t mind them at all. On Sunday night I like getting things in order for the start of a new week….things like making sure I have groceries in the house for the week, cleaning house, doing laundry, organizing my desk, etc. And I like feeling like I get a do-over every Monday in case I screwed something up the week before. 😉
We almost doubled our running mileage (13 miles) last week and I think we may have overdone it abit. Clark was up most of the night with achy legs, so we’re taking a couple of days off of running for that to improve.
I did a deeper search about aching legs after running and found that it’s a very common complaint among runners due to the lactic acid breakdown in the muscle especially with any increase in exercise. Treatment and prevention includes: ice baths (which prevent the lactic acid breakdown), adequate stretching, avoid dehydration, and Vitamin B6 supplements.
According to the National Institute of Health, our bodies require Vitamin B6 to make hemoglobin which in turn supplies our tissue with oxygen. It makes perfect sense!
Hemoglobin within red blood cells carries oxygen to tissues. Your body needs vitamin B6 to make hemoglobin. Vitamin B6 also helps increase the amount of oxygen carried by hemoglobin. (source)

I’ve actually taken an ice bath after a long run and I must say after the initial shock, it felt really good and my legs felt really, really good and refreshed afterward. BUT more explanation about the ice bath definitely requires a post of it’s own, because I’m surprised you didn’t hear me scream trying to get in it!
This weekend I had fun surprising Alyson with her Vera gift for answering the secret giveaway question in a recent post.
Another giveaway is coming up soon!
This afternoon I enjoyed a chocolate protein shake in my fancy schmancy Auburn cup. I actually accidentally bought chocolate instead of vanilla, but now I don’t mind at all. Auburn + chocolate shake = win win.
We have two of our Leroy boys on the Plains and I can’t wait to see them both on the field together!
War Eagle!
We’re going for a walk this afternoon instead of a run. Until next time!
Do you like Mondays?
I was so excited because I have never won anything!
