I don’t know how else to say it.
I’d like to come up with a catchy or witty way to tell you this.
But I’m blank.
Probably because I’m scared to death.
But I’m so stinkin’ psyched about it I’m also about to bust.
It took days if not weeks to convince my husband to do it.
It took days if not weeks to convince myself to do it.
I’m still not sure that I can do it.
But I’m going to try.
So I guess there’s no other way to tell you.
We’re going to try to run a MARATHON!
After much search for a training plan that best suits our experience (that being the lack of), our schedule and our specific needs, we’ve decided on Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 Marathon Training Schedule.
When deciding on our schedule, we wanted Fridays and Sundays as no-run days, which can be difficult because alot of runners run their long runs on Sunday. This was simply not an option for us, so I’m thankful to have found his Novice 1 plan that allows Saturdays as long-run days and Sunday off.
The race is set for January 8, 2012 and while this official training plan started last week, I am happy that we are still on schedule because we actually tested the waters and ran another plan last week. I have so many mixed emotions about this, but all I can do is try. I am literally shaking in my shoes, but I’m simply going to take “one week at a time”.
I can’t believe I’ve told you, because I was actually thinking that if I didn’t tell you, then I could chicken out if I needed to. 😉 BUT that wouldn’t be the right thing to do now would it and I am desperate for your help, support, cheers, advice, encouragement and accountability.
Let the training begin!
