Welcome to TeamSam Fitness, a wellness company devoted to teaching and inspiring midlife women how to live their healthiest life possible through nutrition, physical and spiritual fitness.
After having colon cancer at 29, I totally understand what it feels like to flounder with trying to “eat right” but never meeting the mark (if you know what I mean), feeling guilty if I ate the wrong thing, not being able to keep up with unrealistic expectations and incidentally feeling like a failure….
Oh the cycle.. Every food choice I made was out of fear-fear that my cancer would return.
I went on an all out search trying to find what to do to be healthy. But the only thing I found were “diets” on how to lose weight. I didn’t need to lose weight because I only weighed 120 pounds at the time, but I realized that although I was ‘thin’, I was also unhealthy….and I needed to be healthy.
It wasn’t for lack of trying though bc I tried them. Oh how I tried them. Everything from the cabbage soup diet to counting points and calories. But here’s the thing: I was still sick.
It was only after turning 40 that I was able to break free from the bondage of my food obsession and gain clarity and direction on how to eat for better health and live without counting points, calories or crazy rules I could never keep.
Once I started living for better health, weight loss happened naturally as a result. I’m now on a mission to inspire other women break free from the chains of dieting and begin to live in food freedom, too.

I got in a fast 5 1/2 mile walk. I had planned on working on my plank but forgot and left my house to run errands:( Today I am meeting some Weight Watchers buddies for a 3.8 walk. I will probably throw in some running this evening..and a plank! Happy Friday!
Sounds good Libby! Happy Friday to you, too!
Way to go girl! I was a bit of a slacker yesterday (today its only 6:35am). I did manage to do the intensity fit test (did better than I did last time) and P90X ab ripper! I didn’t run though, didn’t get a lunch (thats when I run).
Hey Alesha! Where did you find that Intensity Fit Test? I came across one day, but don’t remember where I found it. P90X? You rock! 😉
I’m not nearly as ambitious as you’ve been 🙂 but I did get a 2.5 mile run/walk in this morning. Oh, and pulled some weeds, too. Does that count?! 🙂
Hey Lois! It totally counts! Yay for you for getting outside and being active! That’s what it’s all about! 🙂
