This weekend was a weekend of relaxing and de-stressing.  My son’s high school graduation and all emotional activities associated with that, state baseball playoffs and a championship loss required some much needed R/R!

The kids had their own plans for the weekend and instead of lazying around the house in our sorrows, Clark and I decided to take a drive to the beach for a couple of days.

Friday

We took our time and drove the longer, scenic route instead of the busy interstate and 4-lane highway.  We literally happened upon this quaint little seafood restaurant in the middle of nowhere.  And although it’s in a secluded area the parking area was full.  It was obvious that this is a popular  and tasty eatery!

We started with an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes.

And because I ate two three of them, I opted for the healthier, lower calorie spinach salad with grilled chicken as my entree.

With warm bacon vinaigrette dressing.  Die.

Saturday

We began our day with a morning run along the beach.  Nothing helps relieve my stress than getting outside in the sunshine!  <3

After our run we packed a small cooler with sandwiches and drinks and took the kayak out on the lagoon for some water time.

Sunday

We slept in, relaxed on the front porch, listened to music and watched the thousands of tourists enjoying the 2012 Hangout Fest.

We ended our day with a little shopping time and a purchase of some new running shoes!  I can’t wait to try them out!

Needless to say I’m feeling much better and ready to start a new week.  Go Monday!

How was your weekend?  How to you de-stress and unwind?

  1. Sounds like a wonderful weekend! Wish we had a beach like that in our area. Guess the Colorado mountains will have to do. 🙂
