In case you missed it, be sure to check out Part 1 of our Beach Week!
Most couples celebrate their anniversary doing something romantic like a candlelight dinner or date night with a movie or even a fancy getaway. But Clark and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary by going on a hike! We have both have been raised on these waters, but for the first time hiked a walking trial only miles from the beach house. I can’t believe we’ve never discovered this little treasure before! We hiked the Bon Secour Federal Wildlife Refuge. We found it online, mapped out our course, packed our backpack cooler and set out on the trail.
We started at the Pine Beach Trail, hiked the Gator Lake Trail and back, then resumed our walk along the Pine Beach Trail to the beach.
The trails were beautiful. One minute we were walking on hard ground through the woods and the next minute, we may be walking through deep sand and sea oats. There was fresh water, brackish water and salt water around us.
As we continued to walk we could hear the ocean getting closer and closer……
But never expected to top the hill and find this.
We unpacked our cooler, sipped on our water, enjoyed our snack and just sat there….listening to the quiet and just staring at the spectacular panoramic view.
We packed water, coconut water, bananas and protein bars.
It was definitely incredible and couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate the day!
Here are a few more pictures of what we saw along the way.
How have you celebrated a special occasion recently?
