Clark thought we were going running. He was dressed and waiting for me as I filled two empty water bottles.
“Are you going to run with those water bottles?” He asked. “Nope, we’re not going running,” I quickly countered.
Then you can imagine how the rest of that conversation transpired.
“Where are we going?”
“Just get in the car and drive.”
“Well, where are we going?
“You’ll see.”
“Just drive.”
“Do I need my billfold?”
“Nope.”
“Are we going to the walking track.”
“Nope. Keep going.”
Thankfully, the school is only a five minute drive from home, or this conversation may have gotten ugly!
“Turn here.” I said.
“We’re going to the school?” He asked.
“Yep.”
“Well what are we going to do?”
“You’ll figure it out.”
As we we approached the bleachers then onto the field he asked, “now what?”
“Just start.” I answered.
And we did.
I needed something different. I’ve mentioned before that I get bored easily so I’m always looking for something new to interest me.
I. Cannot. Believe. I’ve not thought of this before! It’s Summertime, so no kids or football practice=a perfect arena for working out!
We did:
Lunges
Jumps
Plank
Situps
Incline push ups
Decline push ups
100 yard sprints (6 of them as a matter of fact).
Bleachers
Leg Lifts
We did each set about 12-15 times each and repeated each cycle 3 times, ran the bleachers-I think-6 times and probably 50 yards of lunges.
In other words, WE KILLED IT!
To some this may seem trivial or less than what it is, but so far this workout tops one of my most accomplished and proudest moments in my fitness journey. Years ago I thought about doing it. Wished I could do it. Watched as other people did it.
But today. I DID IT. And I did it well.
[Tweet “My workout on a football field. One of my all time favorite workouts.”]
I’m here to tell you that you can do it too. No, you may not can do all that we did here, but you can do just what I told Clark as we walked out onto that field.
Just start.
I love it!!! Football Field workouts are the best!!! Once in a while my CrossFit will meet at the Football field and those are always some of my favorite workouts!
Thanks Danielle! It was soooo much fun!!
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there is a will, there is a way! 🙂
Yay!!! Thanks Jody!
What a great place to exercise! I never would have thought about the football field during summer…I bet most of the time you’d have it all to yourself, too. Thanks for the inspiration!
Other than a small, visiting chicken snake, it was just us! 🙂 Loved it!
Great workout and love the visuals!
Pinning this one!
Thanks Tamara for the pin! 🙂
Wow, what a workout! Props for changing it up; I tend to get too comfortable and … monotonous. Recently I’ve been breaking out of my old weights mold and have been enjoying more moves like those above. Saving this one to give a go!
Thank you Meredith!
Looks like a great workout!
Thanks Julie! Hope your toe is better. 😉
This is awesome! My hubby and I just started working out together too. We go to the park so I can do soccer stuff and he can run!
that’s fantastic!! sounds (and looks) like an awesome workout. it’s probably a great way to mix things up and avoid falling into an uninspiring routine. i’ll have to give it a try!!
Thanks Susan. Let me know how you do! 🙂
