With the arrival of 2014, the infamous New Year’s Resolutions will also begin to make their annual appearance as well….showing up on hundreds of thousands of to-do lists, hoping that this year will be the year of attainment.
I’m not so big on setting New Year’s Resolutions, but I do believe in setting goals. Resolutions come and go just as quickly as each new year does, but goal setting typically tends to linger and stay around longer, keeping us grounded in genuinely believing we can achieve what we may have once considered the impossible.
But having said that, it’s not our goals that produce results. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s our actions and our result-producing activities that move us closer to actually achieving those goals. Our goals are no more worth the paper we write them on if we don’t simply put one foot in front of the other and do something-anything, to set us in motion to accomplish those goals.
I have goals-personal goals, as well as business goals. It’s become comedic around my house when someone announces something new and fancy they may want and the typical response now is “put it on your goals list”. 🙂 Yes, we may joke about it, but that one statement gives me something to work for~when it seems I’m failing miserably at something or my business is not moving as quickly as I would like for it to, it’s those goals that keep me moving! I refuse to not reach them!
And no, I may not reach them all today, this week or even this year, but I have one of two choices: to move forward or to stand still and not move at all…
What are your goals and what are you doing to reach them!? I’d love to know!
And here’s a little something to inspire you….Christmas karaoke, red-neck, hippie style. 😉
